Results from the Superpole Race at the 2026 Australian WorldSBK, the first round of the season.

Nicolo Bulega took his second win from two races in the 10-lapper. He dropped to fourth at the start, but methodically picked his way through, getting to the front by the end of the fourth lap and not being challenged for the lead from then on.

Axel Bassani won out in the battle behind between himself, Alex Lowes, Yari Montella, Sam Lowes, and Garrett Gerloff for the podium.

Bassani, Montella, and Alex Lowes all held a podium position at some point in the race, Montella leading the opening three laps before Bulega made his way through, but Bassani was the one who was able to latch onto Bulega's rear tyre after the Italian got to the front, allowing him to make a gap on his teammate behind.

Lowes on the second Bimota then did well to hold off Montella, who had more tyre in the closing stages but was unable to make his way through, the Italian ultimately taking fourth after leading in the beginning.

Sam Lowes was fifth, ahead of Garrett Gerloff who was present in the podium battle throughout but was also unable to fashion an overtaking chance.

Alvaro Bautista was seventh over the line, an important top-nine finish after qualifying 12th yesterday. He had the pace for the podium but simply ran out of time to get there - a better grid position later on should give him a better chance in Race 2.

Lorenzo Baldassarri had a quiet run to eighth place, ahead of Iker Lecuona who took the final top-nine position, Danilo Petrucci just missing out in 10th.

Miguel Oliveira had made his way into the top-nine from last on the grid, but an apparent technical problem on the last lap cost him 10 seconds and saw him drop to 18th, meaning he'll start last again in Race 2.

Xavi Vierge didn't start the Superpole Race due to a technical problem that prevented him from leaving the garage for the sighting lap.
