2026 US Moto2 - Friday Practice Results

The opening Moto2 action at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin,Texas saw a blistering run from David Alonso, smashing the lap record on his Aspar.

The Colombian was a constant at he top of the timesheets and running solo on track on his way to a new best of 2:05.847s.

The Kalex rider was almost half a second clear of he next nearest rider, while his team-mate, championship leader Daniel Holgado was adrift in 20th after having his last effort cancelled by yellow flags, leaving the Spaniard heading to Q1 for the second weekend in arow, though last time Holgado went on to win the race in Brazil.

It was Manuel Gonzalez who was closest to he new benchmark, but a hefty 0.494s adrift, crashing after setting his own personal best lap on his Liqui Moly Dynavolt IntactGP bike.

As the last ten minutes of the session began Barry Baltus moved form tenth to second, only losing one place to finish Friday third for REDS Fantic Racing.

Fourth went to Filip Salac, on the American Racing machine ahead of their home GP weekend.

Senna Agius was fifth quickest, completing a solid opening da or the Dyanvolt squad.

Tony Arbolino, who was quickest on the opening day last weekend in Brazil, had dropped to 19th midway through Practice, before rallying back to sixth on the second Fantic entry.

Ivan Ortola was seventh, ahead of another faller, Celestino Vietti, who had topped the earlier FP1 session for the SpeedRS Team.

Izan Guevara was second after chasing around behind Alonso before his progress was halted by a technical issue, pulling his bike off track. The Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha rider was still the top Boscoscuro in ninth as his time was bettered - with his mechanics getting him back out on track to end the session.

The only American rider in the paddock, Joe Roberts, earned a top 10 placing, going straight to Q2 on the second American Racing bike at home.

The remaining Q2 places wet to Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Collin Veijer in 11th, Alonso Lopez in 12th for Gresini, Adrian Huertas in 13th for Italtrans and his team-mate Daniel Munoz in 14th.

Early faller Ayumu Sasaki found himself pushed back to 15th, just missing out for the RW Idrofoglia team.

Alex Escrig was the best of the Forward riders in 16th.

Angel Piqueras was the top rookie in 17th, the QJMotor rider has a double long lap penalty for the American race after attempting to re-join the race after crashing out in Brazil.

Piqueras crashed again in Practice. There were further falls in the session for Mario Aji, Sergio Garcia and Dennis Foggia.

The first session saw the track record tumble with all of the top nine, down to rookie Piqueras under the old benchmark.

The session saw several lead changes before a late push from Vietti set another new best, with Alonso only 0.055s slower in a close session. Arbolino was third, ahead of Senna Agius and team-mate Gonzalez, who completed the early top five.

Aron Canet was the only faller in FP1. The Spaniard went on to place 18th in the second session.

Austin sees Dennis Foggia (24th in Practice) back at HDR SpeedRS for the second round in a row, again replacing the injured Luca Lunetta.
