2026 Thai MotoGP: Which riders are in Q2 for the first qualifying of new season?
The Q2 and Q1 qualifying groups for the 2026 MotoGP Thai Grand Prix have been set

The first Q2 and Q1 qualifying groups of the 2026 MotoGP season have been set, with Aprilia fastest on Friday at the Thai Grand Prix.
The opening day of the 2026 season saw Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia deliver on its pre-season promise of starting the new campaign in strong form.
Last year’s third-placed rider in the championship dominated Friday practice, leading the final session of the day by over four tenths of a second with a lap record of 1m28.526s.
It was a strong day all round for Aprilia, who managed to get three of its riders directly into Saturday’s Q2 pole shootout session.
Jorge Martin was fifth on Friday despite only having two days of testing under his belt before the season started, while Ai Ogura of Trackhouse brushed off a crash in Practice to be the third Aprilia in Q2.
Ducati is strongly represented, too, with Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez all finding safe passage into the pole shootout.
Honda has two representatives in Joan Mir and Johann Zarco, while KTM will have Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder flying its flag.
No Yamaha rider has made it into the first Q2 session of 2026 at this stage, while Pecco Bagnaia was the shock top 10 exclusion after struggling to 15th in Practice on his factory Ducati.
Qualifying in MotoGP is split into two 15-minute segments, with Q1 determining who will form positions 13th to last on the grid.
The fastest two riders from Q1 will advance to Q2, bringing the number of competitors vying for pole position up to 12th.
Q2 sets grid spots first to 12th.
Qualifying determines the grid for both the sprint and the grand prix in MotoGP.
