Nicolo Bulega breaks major WorldSBK milestone: “It’s nothing, but it’s something”
Nicolo Bulega broke a major milestone for Italian riders in WorldSBK with his three wins in Australia.

Nicolo Bulega is unbeaten in World Superbike at Phillip Island since 2024, and his latest trio of victories have pushed him towards a major milestone.
After his run to second in the 2025 standings, Bulega sat on 20 World Superbike wins. Three more in Australia this weekend means his total is up to 23. That’s two more than Max Biaggi, and one more than Marco Melandri, making Bulega the Italian rider with the most wins in WorldSBK.
“I’m really happy,” he told WorldSBK.com after winning the wet Race 2, “especially to become the Italian with most wins.
“Okay, it’s nothing, but it’s something.
“I’m really happy and I want to put more wins on my back.”
Bulega’s Race 1 win was as straightforward as it gets, but there were things to overcome on Sunday. The Italian dropped to fourth at the start of the Superpole Race and had to pick his way through the pack while it was lightly raining; then in Race 2 the conditions became full wet.
“This morning the Superpole Race was a bit difficult because it started to rain a little bit but we were with slick tyres so I had to be very careful,” he said, “but at the end I won and it was a very good race – I enjoyed it a lot.
“Also today I was a bit angry before Race 2 because I knew that I had a very good feeling and was fast with a good pace in dry conditions, but then I was angry because I saw it started raining.
“I tried to put this anger in good energy to win also in wet conditions; I started very well, I had a good feeling from the beginning, then it was difficult because after some laps the asphalt was a bit slippery.
“But, anyway, I managed to win another race and I’m really happy.”
Bulega’s treble doesn’t mean his rivals need to be concerned about the rest of the season, though, the Italian insisted: “I think Phillip Island is my favourite track, I really enjoy to win here because especially in this track I really like.
“It’s amazing and my target is to win, for sure – I will try again next time but for sure I will have some guys that will improve a lot.”
