Sam Lowes injury update after Australian WorldSBK crash
Sam Lowes has suffered multiple injuries in his Race 2 crash at the Australian WorldSBK.

Marc VDS Ducati rider Sam Lowes has sustained multiple injuries after crashing at turn three in Race 2 at the Australian WorldSBK.
Sam Lowes was running in fourth place during the wet Race 2 at Phillip Island when he crashed out at turn three on lap eight.
Lowes was the second crasher at turn three this weekend after Xavi Vierge went down there in Race 1. Vierge was declared fit after a trip to the medical centre and, were it not for a technical problem preventing him from starting the Superpole Race, would’ve lined up for both Sunday races.
Vierge did take the start in Race 2 but went on to crash out again, this time at turn two. He again got away without injury but the same could not be said for Lowes at turn three.
The British rider was taken to the medical centre after the crash. He was then diagnosed with a right hand contusion, left ankle contusion, and – most significantly – a broken left wrist.
It’s an injury that is likely to keep Lowes out of the World Superbike test at Portimao on 9–10 March, and possibly the race there on 27–29 March.
Lowes ended the Phillip Island weekend ninth in the standings on 16 points.
Lowes’ brother, Alex Lowes, also crashed in Race 2, going down at turn one but escaping without injury.
2026 WorldSBK rookie Mattia Rato crashed at turn four on the opening lap and was diagnosed with a right shoulder contusion after being taken to the medical centre.
