The planned budget cap for Formula 1 is positive news for a potential entry by McLaren to the FIA World Endurance Championship’s new hypercar-led premier class in 2021.
McLaren will make a decision on a possible return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and entry to the FIA World Endurance Championship by the end of the year, according to racing CEO Zak Brown.
McLaren executive director Zak Brown has said that he finds the provisional plans for the new premier class at Le Mans “compelling” as the Formula 1 team considers a works return to sports car racing.
